Our recent trip to Argentina, Uruguay, and Paraguay brought many interesting insights and opened new business opportunities. We visited our long-term partners – the companies Bioquímica and Chemical Centre in Buenos Aires, the stable family business ALTON S.A. in Montevideo, and the dynamically changing company In Situ in Asunción, Paraguay. All these companies have been involved in the distribution of our laboratory equipment in the region for over 15 years.
Argentina, known for its rich history and cultural diversity, has faced economic challenges in recent years. Our distributors have faced difficult conditions, but now, thanks to the political and economic reforms of the new president, the situation is changing significantly. The new administration is introducing a more relaxed import policy and placing greater emphasis on scientific research and technological development. This creates a more favourable environment for modern laboratory technologies, including our devices from Brno. After thorough training and setting business conditions, we can expect interesting results and strengthening our market position.
A similar situation exists in Uruguay. Although the company ALTON S.A. has recently experienced weaker business results, its stable family background, the ongoing generational leadership change, and many years of experience provide hope for a turnaround. Together, we have identified steps to improve efficiency and adapt to current market needs, such as digital communication and greater flexibility in pricing policy.
What connects Buenos Aires, Montevideo, and Brno? Apart from long-standing business cooperation, it is also a focus on science and innovation. All three cities have a rich university tradition and are centres of technological development. It is precisely because of this shared vision that we can continue to expand our activities in the region and bring modern laboratory technologies to where they are most needed.
Our trip confirmed that despite all the challenges, Argentina, Uruguay, and Paraguay remain attractive markets with growth potential. With the solid backing of MMM Group and the personal approach of both our commercial and service departments, we can continue to successfully operate and expand the presence of our instruments from Brno in the scientific and laboratory sectors in these countries.
